For the past few days, Cullen has not just been a handful... he's been a truck-laod-full! He is hitting, spitting, yelling and throwing fits! Sometimes you can ignore the behaviors and present him with something else to distract him, but other times, there is nothing we can do! I've tried time out, whipping (is that where he gets the hitting from?) , ignoring, and giving rewards when he is being good. We talk to him daily about being nice, using nice words, and that hitting is bad.
When he got in the car after school today, he said, "me hit." oh no! I said that is not nice, he said, "yes." I told him, hitting is bad. He just smiles and laughs. :-(
Then we were down the street and he remembered someone having their Christmas lights up. (Granted they took them down at the beginning of Feb, but we haven't talked about it in over a month! How can he remember someone having Christmas lights and not remember that hitting is bad!
I was beginning to wonder if I wasn't giving him enough attention at home. So I planning that tonight, I will not play on my phone or the computer or watch separate tvs. I let him watch one show while we ate a snack and then I took the tv off. He fussed a little while, but I just sat down and started to play with the legos. He soon joined me and we had fun! Then I took him outside for a little while and he really enjoyed putting wood in the firepit! He does not mind getting dirty outside! LOL! He is eating his dinner now and watching one more show while I write this.
Since the time changed, he has had trouble waking up in the mornings and going to sleep each night. I am going to bath him a little early tonight and try to tire him out early. This momma needs some rest!
